Never ever...try to outshine the master..., else...!!!

First, my respect to Robert Greene for the genius idea...in "The 48 laws of power"...precisely said...WISDOM IN A NUTSHELL!! in fact, if I could have it my way, (if Green lets me...), mine would go... "The 48 laws of survival!"...miss that, miss out!

The sort of ideas Greene disseminates are the kind you won't pay, nor bribe to learn in a classroom..., no wonder the said custodians of knowledge with all the enviable "Psychological" and "Sociological" PhDs fail miserably on this one...What they fail to remember, is that they ain't masters in everything, and never can they...in fact, as my old folk told me...out of the A-Z, they have managed only about 5 or so...do the math on the much work left...makes me want to sing Brandy's lines..."I'm a work in progress...not perfect yet..."only going along way to informing us that...learning is endless, and no one is a master of it all...even he without tittles before his name, could have one or two things to teach you...!

Speaking of wanting to outshine your master, I can't help but remember of this so called learned friend who went out to have a good time boat riding...a field he clearly was an amateur in! with all the academic aura accompanying him, he took to the water...!

...One, two...five kilometers into the waters they rowed, and the not-so-smart learned friend couldn't unfortunately keep his mouth shut and engage his eyes in this unfamiliar surrounding..., he rather decided to engage the poor fellow busy on the "sticks", as if that was not injury enough, his talk was in itself condescending...to say the least...!

"Do you know what Psychology is?"...asks the good passenger, to which the poor fellow says no. Probing further as if to ask why not, he asks another unpleasant one..."how about Sociology?"...(how did he expect a man who has known water and a canoe as the only things worthy knowing, to know such???)...and dutifully, he says no!...several others followed, to which the replies were no.

As if nature was listening, and accumulating answers for the poor fellow, the moment,...the defining moment..., call it the moment of reckoning, came! A furious storm came calling, and the man tightened his grip on the "sticks"...but this one was too much to handle...only one option left...!

"do you know swimmology???"... he proudly asks the good professor...and you sure guessed it right..."bleak!!!"...and the rest as they say, is history...but far from good for the good professor....the true master had the last laugh!!!

Remember:
  • Keep what you know to yourself, and learn to shut up on stuff you know nothing about.
  • Don't announce to the world how much you know, no one wants to listen to all that...it don't add an ounce to their bread basket.
  • Never try to outshine the master in his own game
  • Learn to master your limitations
  • Be good to people you perceive to be "lowly"...they may be the ones you need at your lowest point
  • Learn some swimming and snorkeling skills,...these may come in handy

  1. Bonjour mon frere, quaintly put above here.I just have a quick nugget to share.Ellipsis can be used to demonstrate a number of things in writing but when frequently used,it takes away from your wonderful writing. When one is reading, the ocassional....,seem to imply that you have a lot to say but for some unknown reason you have chosen to forget it.More often than not I have fallen victim to this malaise so I am certain of what I am talking about.Limit it to a few places or just omit it "kabisa"the rest is just fine.
